Finn and Brie’s story has everything I’ve come to expect from Ms. Richard’s books: a sweet (with a dash of spice) romance, endearing characters, and a story that can tug on your heartstrings at the most unexpected moments.

Finn Shepherd had his heart broken eight years ago and he’s never wanted to risk that kind of pain again. Then Brie Davis comes into town and just plain knocks him off his feet. Brie is in Mirabelle for the funeral of her birth mother – the infamous Bethelda Grimshaw. Brie never knew the woman, but now she’s inherited everything, including some animosity from people Bethelda hurt. Brie is a charming heroine with a good heart and a deep-seated need to know where she came from. I adored her from the first and wanted her to find happiness in Mirabelle and with Finn. Finn is a caring, loving, sexy hero whose past has made him wary of entering a relationship. When he and Brie decide to enter a no strings attached affair while she’s in town, it’s clear that these two are going to find themselves entangled sooner rather than later. Finn and Brie fit like lock and key; they’re truly perfect for each other on every level. I loved watching them fall into a relationship and fall in love almost without realizing it. Their romance is by turns sweet and sensual and I was rooting for them to get the happily ever after they so deserved.

Untold is the seventh full-length book in the Country Roads series and though it can be read as a standalone, there are some minor spoilers for the previous books in the series. As a fan of the series, I was thrilled to briefly visit with past Country Roads heroes and heroines and see where they are now. Ms. Richard also gave me something I didn’t know I wanted: a look into the life of Bethelda Grimshaw. I absolutely hated Bethelda in previous books because she was so cruel. Learning about her alongside Brie ended up tugging on my heartstrings more than I expected. Ms. Richard doesn’t excuse Bethelda’s actions in any way, but I really did like getting a greater understanding of the character.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know the residents of Mirabelle throughout the Country Roads series. While I’m sad to see the series come to a close, Finn and Brie’s romance is really a great ending. Untold is simply a lovely story from beginning to end.

I had the pleasure of reviewing Unsung (you can read my review here) and I’m thrilled to be a part of the launch day blitz. Excerpt from Unsung:

“Forget this?”

Her purse flew into the air, hitting the floor with a thud. She clutched her chest and spun around. Liam was leaning back against the counter, her bra dangling from his forefinger, swaying just slightly in the air.

Okay, yes it was true that she’d gotten to see his body up close and personal the night before, but there was something to be said about seeing it in the daylight. Actually there was a lot to be said about it. She just couldn’t do that much talking as her brain had temporarily short-circuited.

He was wearing nothing more than a pair of black boxer briefs and a smile, his washboard abs giving her the strangest urge to do laundry. She looked like death warmed over and he looked…well, glorious.

“Your bra wasn’t the only thing that you forgot either. I don’t get a goodbye, Harper?”

“I figured it would be better,” she said as she reached up and attempted to smooth her hair. She had no doubts that she did not succeed.

He leaned back against the counter and folded his arms across his chest, her bra now hanging at his side. “Better for whom?” His mouth quirked to the side, making him look infinitely sexier.

The jerk.

“Look, we don’t have to do this whole awkward morning after thing,” she said making a gesture between the two of them.

“Perfect.” He nodded his head as he reached up and scratched his beard, the sound of his nails on his scruff reached her ears from across the room. He used the hand that was still holding her bra and it swayed with the motion, taunting her like a freaking red flag…even though it was navy blue.

“Then I’ll just get going.” She took her eyes off of him, so not an easy thing to do, and went to grab her purse on the floor.

“Why?”

“What?” Her head came up and she straightened.

“Why are you leaving?”

“I thought we just established this.”

“No, we established not having the awkward morning after thing. We never established you leaving,” he said shaking his head.

“Do you plan on making this as uncomfortable as possible?”

“I was thinking about it. But if you head out that door I think you’ll make yourself plenty uncomfortable all on your own.”

“Meaning?”

“How were you planning on getting back to the bar?”

Well, that had her coming up short. “I hadn’t really thought that out.” She hadn’t really thought anything out as was evident by her current predicament.

“It’s three miles to the main road, and another five to the Secondhand Guitar. And as you don’t know where you are I would imagine it would be difficult to call a cab. Also I don’t think you’d get far walking on those shoes of yours before your feet started to kill you.”

“Well, isn’t this the perfect setting for a horror movie.”

A laugh escaped his mouth and he shook his head. “I was actually going for the perfect setting for a romantic comedy. Boy meets girl, boy takes girl home and gives her multiple orgasms, boy makes girl breakfast the following morning.”

Okay, she was going to ignore the romantic comedy comment. “Look Liam, last night wasn’t something that I’ve ever done before. I’m not the kind of girl who goes home with men I just met.”

He tilted his head to the side and his grin somehow widened. “See, we have something in common. I don’t go home with men I just met either.”

The corner of her lip twitched despite herself.

“It this something you do for all of the girls you have one-night stands with?” The question was out of her mouth before she thought better of it and she inwardly cringed at her words. She was that girl. The one-night stand girl.

His head straightened and he studied her for a second, the humor in his eyes gone. “First of all, I’ve never made breakfast for any girl that I’ve brought home. And second, I wouldn’t classify you as a one-night stand.”

His words had her coming up short again. She couldn’t get her brain to connect with her mouth to say anything.

“Let me cook for you, Harper. Then I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”

It was on the tip of her tongue to say no, to ask that he just drive her back now. She wasn’t sure what it was, the fact that he hadn’t called her a one-night stand or the intensity in his gaze, because the word “okay” slipped past her lips. And judging by the look on his face, she wasn’t the only one shocked by it.

“Good.” He pushed himself off the counter and crossed the space to her, reaching out to hand her the bra when he was close enough. When she grabbed it he didn’t let go. His green-gold eyes focused on hers as his free hand slipped around her waist and he moved in closer. “I’m going to kiss you now.”

He hesitated for just a moment, giving her a second to object…but just like the night before she found herself objectionless. She couldn’t think straight around this man, not when he was speaking, or looking at her, or breathing in her general direction. And now he had his hand on her, his mouth just inches from hers.

She gave a small nod before he lowered his head. His lips gently brushed hers and his fingers tightened at her hip bringing her flush against his body. She couldn’t stop herself from sighing in pleasure and the second her mouth was open he took full advantage, dipping his tongue inside. She wasn’t the only one who’d taken a moment to freshen their breath either and he tasted so damn good.

And just like that her palms were flat on his chest, like they had a mind of their own. Yup, her ability to think straight was obliterated when he was around…but maybe thinking straight was entirely overrated.

Liam is a h-o-t HOT, swoon-worthy hero with talented hands and a fantastic voice. He’s also totally head over heels for Harper in the most adorable way. Separately, they’re great characters and I’ve liked them both since meeting them in previous Country Roads stories. As a couple, they are impossible to resist and I simply could not stop reading their story.

Unsung is the fifth book in the Country Roads series, but it can be read as a standalone. Fans of the series are sure to be pleased that their favorite Country Roads heroes and heroines play strong supporting roles. I always enjoy my trips to Mirabelle, Florida, and the only complaint I have about Unsung is that I finished it wanting more Country Roads stories to read.

Undressed is my favorite Country Roads story to date! Shannon Richards has packed a heck of a lot into this sinfully sexy novella – it’s interesting, heartbreaking, compelling, and of course, red-hot.

I have a weakness for hockey player heroes and Logan is definitely drool-worthy on and off the ice. But he’s more than a hot bod with skills, he’s a man with a generous heart and a heartbreaking secret he’ll do anything to protect. Logan hasn’t really wanted to get close to anyone in years because of his past (for reasons I won’t spoil), but Abby gets under his skin and makes him come alive for the first time in years. And it’s easy to see why. Abby is a heroine with brains and determination to spare. She handles sexist coworkers along with sometimes uncooperative hockey players and doesn’t blink an eyelash. Logan, however, throws her off her game. Her contract forbids her from getting involved with any of the guys on the team, but there’s something about Logan that Abby simply can’t resist. And when she finds out that he wants her as well…watch out because Undressed gets down and dirty in all the best ways. The chemistry between Abby and Logan is fantastic and I simply could not put their story down, entranced as I was by these two.

Of course, even when hero and heroine fit one another perfectly things aren’t going to be easy. There’s workplace politics, old wounds, and the ever-present press that will challenge Abby and Logan. The only thing that kept Undressed from being the perfect read for me was the inevitable reveal of Logan’s secret to the world. You can tell it had to happen for plot point reasons, but the how of it left me disappointed. Without spoiling what happens, I can say that someone as smart and aware as Abby should have seen what was coming. That being said, it was the only blip in an otherwise superb romance.

Undressed is part of Ms. Richard’s Country Roads series, but it can be read as a standalone. I’ve been reading this series completely out of order and I had no problems at all. Fans of the series should love the cameos made by their favorite characters, and of course, Abby’s best friend, Paige (of Undone), is a key supporting character. As much as I loved the Mirabelle crowd, Ms. Richard has me even more excited to read books about Logan’s siblings, characters new to the series. I’ve got my fingers crossed in the hopes that Adele and Liam will get books of their own.

Undressed is fast-paced and engaging with characters you have to adore. I absolutely loved Abby and Logan and I cannot wait to re-read their story.

But things aren’t exactly easy. It takes patience and trust on Shep’s part and a willingness to risk her heart once again on Hannah’s for these two to get together. And when they do…watch out because Unforgettable heats up fast. Shep and Hannah are truly made for each other in every way and their every encounter crackles with energy. The obstacles in their romance are mostly due to a lack of communication and the occasional misunderstanding. Though I wanted to shake them and tell them to just open up to one another a couple of times over the course of the story, Ms. Richard did make me understand where both Shep and Hannah were coming from. Hannah in particular had to deal with a powerful loss; she bears an emotional scar that will never truly heal and it affects her present-day relationship with Shep. There’s a wealth of emotion in Unforgettable that keeps you invested in the story. I hated having to put the book down and I was rooting for Hannah and Shep every step of the way.

Unforgettable is the fourth book in Ms. Richard’s Country Roads series, but having only read one other book in the series I think it’s safe to say this story can be read as a standalone. There are some minor spoilers from Undone, Undeniable, and Unstoppable, so if you absolutely hate spoilers start from the beginning. Also brought over from the previous books are some delightful former heroes and heroines. Shep’s group of friends are funny and charming and they add tons of warmth to Unforgettable. All in all I adored Hannah and Shep’s romance and I cannot wait to read the rest of the Country Roads series!
