Teaser Tuesday: The Scottish Witch by Cathy Maxwell

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I reading a couple of books at the moment, so I pulled a quote from one at random this week. The Scottish Witch is the second book in Cathy Maxwell's Chattan Curse series. In the series, the men in the hero's family are cursed to die as soon as they fall in love. I pulled from the prologue, set in the 17th century, where the curse began.

Teaser:
"Raising the staff, Fenella said, "I curse not just Chattan but his line. He betrayed her for a title. He tossed aside handfasted promises for greed. Now let him see what his duplicity has wrought."

Ooh--very tempting! :) I LOVE this cover, and it sounds like a great book. Plus, I can't remember the last time I read one of Cathy's books. I think it's time to change that...

Enjoy!

I wonder if "handfasted promises" means they shook hands on the deal? Just curious! Poor Chattan.
My teaser is from A STOP IN THE PARK.
