18 & Over Book Blogger Follow

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines.

This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!

Question of the Week: Have you read a romance or erotic novel with an M/M or F/F relationship in it? If so, did you enjoy the read? And if you haven't, is that something you would read in the future?

Absolutely! I don't read much F/F, but I'm read a lot of M/M romance. I started with reading M/M/F and graduated from there. In terms of male/male romance, a couple of my favorite authors are Riley Shane, Cameron Dane, Josh Lanyon, and Diana DeRicci. Naming my favorite books...there are just too many. For me, whether it's M/M, M/F, F/F, or any combination thereof, if it's a good story with great characters, I'm gonna love it.

And I cannot wait for Qhuinn and Blay! It's about time. ;)

Teaser Tuesday: Karma by Carly Phillips

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I simply love Carly Phillips's Serendipity series. I recently got my arc of book 3, Karma, and couldn't resist diving in. Since I just started, I pulled my teaser from right where I'm at in the book.

Teaser:
"Liza drummed her fingers against her purse as she waited for Brian to be brought up from the holding area. She wondered if the cell in the back of the police station had a plaque engraved with her brother's name on it."
*Karma by Carly Phillips, page 8 of arc copy (book releases 5/1/12)

Book Description:
Karma CoverPolice Officer Dare Barron has had a crush on Liza McKnight ever since he was a teenager. But despite his lifelong attraction, the closest he's ever come to interacting with her is watching Liza regularly bail out her brother at the station.

Dare's dark past with Liza's brother, Brian, has always kept him from pursuing her. But suddenly Liza finds herself in need of protection and Dare appoints himself as the man for the job. And while the sizzling attraction between Dare and Liza draws them together, the past that Dare and Brian share threatens to keep the two apart forever.

Sexy Snippets: Karma by Carly Phillips

Tuesdays have never been so sexy!

Sexy Snippets is a weekly feature hosted by Reading Between the Wines for the 18+ crowd. To join in just grab the button, post a sexy paragraph or two from your current read and share the author & title so other participants can add the book to their TBR list if they like. Then add your post to the linky below so everyone can follow along. Have a sexy good time!

I adored Carly Phillips's first two Serendipity books (Serendipity and Destiny). I just started book 3, Karma (available May 1st), so I have to flip through for a sexy snippet:

Karma CoverShe wasn't usually bold, but he made it easy, and the next thing Liza knew, she was opening the packet while Dare quickly stripped off. his clothes and rejoined her, sliding beside her on the mattress.

His body head wrapped around her as he brought his mouth down on hers. She moaned and opened for him, amazed at how right it felt to be with him this way. She still held the condom in one hand but used the other to work her way down his body, feeling the differences between his skin and the taut muscles beneath.

Nora Dearly is not like other girls her age. Instead of being interested in clothing, social calls and raising her station through marriage, Nora is fascinated by military history and politics. With both her parents dead, Nora has no choice but to live under the control of her social-climbing aunt. At least, until zombies attack her home. Nora is saved by masked military men…who aren’t exactly alive themselves. Thrust into a world unlike the one she’s known her whole life, Nora learns of “The Laz” a virus that reanimates the dead. She also happens to fall for Captain Bram Griswold, a handsome, noble soldier who happens to be a zombie himself. As the world tumbles into chaos around them, Nora and Bram must fight for the survival of all they know and love, all the while knowing that the clock is counting down on their doomed romance.

Zombies, star-crossed lovers, action, adventure, romance and more are at play in DEARLY, DEPARTED. With her debut novel, author Lia Habel has delivered a wholly unique story that is sure to entertain fans of paranormal, steampunk, cyber-Victorian and romance alike.

Nora is an intelligent, brave young woman that I adored from the first. She’s not super human and she doesn’t automatically accept the situation she’s been thrown into, but rather asks questions and reacts like a normal person would. Though DEARLY, DEPARTED is told in the first person from five points of view, Nora is the readers’ entrée into the world that Ms. Habel has created. Learning about this inventive world through Nora’s eyes was one of my favorite aspects of DEARLY, DEPARTED.

As for the zombies, I absolutely loved Bram and all the zombies of Company Z. They’re victims of The Laz, but they’ve retained their minds and personalities and, with the help of science, they’re able to function so well you almost wouldn’t know that they were the reanimated dead. Their strength of mind and character in the face of all they’ve been through endeared them to me. I don’t think I could pick a favorite among those of Company Z, but if I had to, it’d be Bram. I can easily see why Nora falls for him. He’s intelligent, honorable and doesn’t kid himself that his time is limited. He’s also brave enough to try and defy the odds by being with Nora, knowing that there is little chance that their star-crossed love could end happily.

I don’t want to talk too much about DEARLY, DEPARTED, for most of the fun of the story comes from not knowing what happens. I’ll end this review by saying that DEARLY, DEPARTED was a wonderful story and I’m looking forward to Ms. Habel’s next GONE WITH THE RESPIRATION book, DEARLY, BELOVED.
